Chester sofas…
Actually, the origin of the chester armchairs is not known exactly, although it is said that they are from the early nineteenth century and were born to decorate the exclusive London social clubs, with entrance allowed only for gentlemen; some sources suggest that it was Philip Stanhope, the fourth Earl of Chesterfield who charged it to his carpenter, with the idea of creating a sofa where gentlemen sat on with their backs straight and avoiding malposition. Other sources attribute its creation to another later Earl. Currently chester armchairs and sofas are recognized worldwide thanks to their beauty and are characterized by their capitoné design with arms and backrest at the same height.
