How could the Francisco Segarra universe be described?

My universe is infinite, it never has limits, it’s like it’s 360 degrees where it’s always running and doen’t stop. It’s a particular universe where I try to see what others don’t see.

Is this the first time you’ve worked at ceramic industry?

Yes, it’s the first time I’ve worked at Ceramics.

What do you like about ceramic material?

I really like clay which is the basis of traditional ceramic materials. The product obtained will depend on the nature of the clay used, the temperature and the cooking techniques to which it has been subjected, that is why I find it so exciting.

FS by Peronda is intended for professional spaces. What does this mean for you on an aesthetic and creative level?

Initially it was aimed at professional spaces, but the idea is that it suits both professional spaces and home. Both aesthetically and creatively before developing any collection, I do not think only of the product, I start thinking of a concept, in a space, in this way it is much easier for the final product to work.

What do you want to activate as a reaction of feelings in visitors through pottery?

The important thing is that visitors are surprised both with the product and with a new experience of space, in this way they can open their minds and can perceive a lot of possibilities.

Where did you find inspiration for the design of the FS by Peronda collection?

I find it on my travels, especially in India where we developed a vintage collection of furniture. The textures, the colours, the materials I find are a great source of inspiration. But inspiration is a mixture of cultures, countries, experience, moments. That’s why inspiration comes to me anytime, and anywhere, you just have to be prepared, it’s magical.

Why do you want to play with the effects of matter and appearances?

Well, because I think all products need and even if it seems easy it’s a very difficult thing to achieve.

You take out of the past something really modern. Why the past?

Because I think there are past elements that marked an era and were forgotten, so I think they can come back and work very well, in fact, I think in life everything is cyclical.

The user sees great classics in your creations. Is it a way to play with the emotional?

Of course, it is an intention to play with the emotional, I try to create positive emotions, which are also known as healthy emotions, because they positively affect the well-being of the individual who feels them. They favour people’s way of thinking, reasoning, and acting.

Why did you want to give your creations a vintage twist?

Because I think there is a market gap that this virgin and I am passionate about, as I have mentioned above, I designed a vintage collection of furniture that has inspired me a lot to give a vintage touch to the world of tile.

Is it important to show the footprint of time in the decoration?

Recover and you will conquer, I think it is very important to leave the recovered pieces as is, without painting or varnishing and choosing authentic objects that give it authenticity.

There is a certain uniqueness in his collection. Is this an important idea for you?

It is very important in any aspect of life to be unique. I think the world is full of common things and people, so I think it’s very important. When I was a kid and started traveling everything surprised me because the world was not globalized and every trip was an apprenticeship, today when you travel everything is almost the same, the same shops, the same restaurants, the same clothes…That’s why I believe that uniqueness is the future and key to success.

What were your technical and functional obligations since these tiles are intended for professional spaces?

The different types of tiles out there could be classified in many ways. For their finishes, enamelled or un enamelled. For their use, exterior or interior, pavement, or coating. For the manufacturing process; pressing or extrusion, by the water absorption capacity; high, medium, or low. Everything must be indicated on the packaging, so that we can know the type of material we have.

Have you received any specifications from Peronda?

Fortunately, Peronda is a company with a very open mind and leaves total freedom in terms of designs, so it’s great to work together.

On the technical level, what is your main challenge and how did you solve it?

My main challenge was to achieve simplicity/authenticity which at the same time is the ultimate sophistication. Fortunately, Peronda’s technicians got the message and have been great professionals giving the pieces authenticity like no one else.

Your tiles offer many combinations. Did you want the user to take ownership of your tiles?

Of course, the intention is to captivate, but at the same time you must make collections that are easy to combine and last over time. Decision is left to customers.

Would you like to add something about your tour and your tiles?

I wanted to thank Peronda for the confidence and ease with which they let me work and design. Together we have introduced the vintage world into ceramics and interpreted a new concept of stands within the ceramic world. That’s why I think we have our BLUE OCEAN.
