Martina Billi. The gifts of the tree and human nature.

Painting, illustration, interior design, and science to make a perfect coffee. All art forms are just as magical.

Wood, pen and a great sensibility, Martina Billi is the artist who dialogues with wood to make our world more beautiful. An illustrator with a special gift. Her work is sensational and subtle, her pen strokes visually resemble what would be a classic engraving and she uses the veins, knots, and imperfections of the wood to give greater personality to her drawings.

With her talent and virtuosity, we travel to exotic places, on a route where interior design and art come together.

The more art the better. Café del Art.

History, culture, essence, and art in a cup of coffee… Café del Art is a new concept, another way to enjoy and understand coffee, in a place where every detail is designed to perceive and enhance the product.

A good coffee is a masterpiece, an art, this adorable café in Madrid has been designed by our interior design team in Madrid to live a unique coffee experience.

The cultivation, the weed and the aroma become art.

“I have a degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. My work consists of illustrations on large format wood, often recycled to give it a second life, with pen and Indian ink.

This technique that I have been experiencing over the last few years allows me to work in a very thorough way.

The work is done entirely by hand with a lot of attention and dedication to detail. There is a fascination with ancient engraving and scientific illustration. There is a special love for wood that I consider a living, noble and organic material.

My works have been exhibited in the National Museum of Natural Sciences and in various places, fairs, and galleries of the city.

I make murals and custom pieces in interior decoration projects. In the specific case of Café del Art it all started with a conversation with Edgar and Sandra, the owners of the place.

They gave me their idea of making a large world map to show the coffee-producing countries and their old trade routes. I immediately thought it was a brilliant idea and certainly an exciting challenge, some told me it was crazy about the dimensions. This vision and bravery of the owners and my love and infinite patience with the meticulous drawing resulted in almost two months of work.

I admit that putting the name of each city has been a challenge and a great meditation exercise, but we are very happy with the result. On the world map you can also see some marine elements typical of the illustrated maps of this time.

I’m fascinated by challenges and I like how versatile this job can be. I love working in large formats that end up being very eye-catching for the viewer and where I can express myself freely.” Martina Billi.

If you like coffee, you’ll hardly find such a masterful space.
