The Whisk Café, a design project that embraces the industrial aesthetics and homemade flavours.

Led by the captivating and intense light reflected by the Tajo River, we travel to Lisbon, a city bathed by the flow of these waters and facing the immense Atlantic. It is this whitish and intense light that takes us to Rua do Sol ao Rato to become surprised by a place that shows its own name and dazzled by an interior design that represents the sum of experiences and trips of its owners: The Whisk Café.

Catarina and Ricardo were clear that the essence of their space should be an amalgam of their family experiences, accumulated in their journeys outside Portugal. They were also clear that Francisco Segarra’s vintage and industrial spirit should be part of the project.

An interior design that touches our hearts.

Lisbon is a mixture of traditional and modern, a sense of authenticity that makes it different. In its viewpoints, in its sunsets, in its dreamy corners, it is unique in every detail. The city of the seven hills has a decadent air that we fall in love with, a feeling that time has not passed through it.

In one of the most central areas of this European capital we discover The Whisk Café, a café inspired by the cosmopolitan and industrial environment of the city.

It’s no coincidence that they chose that word to be the name of their restaurant project. Their predilection for homemade recipes and traditional elaboration convinced them in their right choice. The word whisk pays homage to those manual techniques that survive in nowadays cuisine and that they revive among the stoves of theirs.

Francisco Segarra‘s eclectic vein and his idea of creating different but credible spaces was the starting point of an interior design that was projected after Catarina and Ricardo’s visit to our facilities.

The restaurant welcomes us with pieces that promote that vintage and industrial spirit that touches our hearts causing feelings that remain among us.

Leather, wood, iron… The tables, chairs and stools are incorporated with different materials, shapes, and designs, becoming decorative elements of this factory-looking interior design, which is not contrary to the cosy and resourceful atmosphere that is created.

An industrial style exhibiting service cart reveals part of a generous dessert menu. The representation of the two original ideas of this magnificent project: homemade recipes and Francisco Segarra’s intrinsic creativity. The best way to reinforce a bold aesthetic where details enrich so admirable design.

FS Star Ara, a luminous beam that connects with us.

The light of Lisbon is one of its main intangible icons that has inspired both cinema and literature, a symbol that continues to seduce tourists and locals. The importance given to the Sun is reflected in the name of some of its streets, which as Rua do Sol ao Rato still show how this star was a geo-reference for the city.

That dazzling luminosity also extends in The Whisk Café through a floor that gleams. A mantle dotted with stars that alludes to the light of the well-known city, a pavement that appeals to the nostalgia of past times, a design that brings Francisco Segarra’s aesthetics.

A ray of that luminous beam and a shared passion links us with that place in Lisbon where you can still live genuine experiences. We now invite you to discover this wonderful project with these beautiful pictures by Diana Schinkoreit, a sample of how images can transmit emotions in the distance.
