Vara Origen. A coffee shop design project claiming its roots.

When it comes to interior design it is maybe the technical knowledge what we think about firstly. Despite it is true, the simple fact of transforming a space can take us to a more sensible terrain.

Through the interior design of any premises, we can also tell a story, learn about its essence and generate sensations with a strong visual and emotional impact.

It is just this subtle aspect of the decoration what Francisco Segarra tries to reflect in all its works. And today, we can see its best skills through a unique coffee shop project where a return to the origins takes all the prominence.

Vara Origen. A village, a family, an endearing design…

This 100%FS project is much more than a restyling of an old restaurant. Vara Origen is an authentic statement of love by a family in their village and their origins.

“After 60 years, we start again”

The Vara family, with their long restaurant tradition, has been offering meals to locals and tourists for more than 60 years.

Now, those grandchildren that ran through the streets of the village recover the original family premises, in order to turn it into a reference bakery and coffee shop in this area, and also into a meeting point for all the locals.

With an assortment of different types of bread, confectionery and a varied catalogue of gourmet products, children often go at snack time, or older people for lunch or buy. And they do it in a relaxing atmosphere with elements that evoke the handcrafted.

At the service of tradition…

With several refurbishments and patched solutions, the original place of this emblematic bakery had become a dull space, far from the atmosphere and aesthetic that the owners were looking for.

From the starting point of this project, the team of interior designers by Francisco Segarra in Madrid took as reference the location itself, Griñón, a residential town away from the hustle and bustle of the capital city, as a retreat place.

Therefore, the country house was the basis of the whole project thanks to the general structure and to the aesthetic, in order to create a cosy, family and full of tradition space.

A coffee shop with thousands of decorative charms.

In addition to the aesthetic and the aroma of country house we can breathe in Vara Origen, the organization of the place itself has served to build a unique space for all the uses.

First, the pantry has become the bakery and gourmet products shop and will welcome the customers when they enter the place. A large wooden shelving has all the breads and gypsum shelves are used to display gourmet products such as high-quality delicatessen, cheese and jams.

Then we find the “kitchen”, with a long counter that evokes the old working table. The main area of tables has been made in the old living room and porch of this country house. The two areas can be differentiated because the first one has a beautiful chimney and then there is a game of different floors, concrete and herringbone paving floorings.

In addition to the combination of different materials, the lighting, the furniture and some plant structures are used to order all the space with recognizable winks, which help to create a family and relaxed atmosphere, where we can enjoy good home cooking.

Vara Origen has inside thousands of decorative charms that make us delve into the pure essence of the place, into its history and also into its soul.

A 100% FS coffee shop design project that finds in its origins the way of enhancing the most sensible and intimate character of interior design.
