A decoration full of magic and a landscape in line with it.

Rustic, warm and so cosy. Such are country houses, and such are the design and decoration of their interiors. The landscape surrounding builds by itself a dream location, and preserving that essence inside and outside the house is only possible when the work is made with love and dedication.

The following design project has a lot of that and also special. The house belongs to Diego de Rando, a famous photographer with whom we have known the magic of photography, and his partner Edith. With them today we enter this beautiful mountain house.

The refurbishment and interior design have been carried by himself. For this expert in capturing unique moments, the natural beauty of this place was the main source of inspiration in this wonderful project. A country home decor and design where Francisco Segarra’s tiles join the charm that a space full of history always has.

A traditional house in a dream place.

In one of the most beautiful places in Spain and abroad is this house dating from 1720. Vilafamés is an inland village from Castellón that stands on a hill that is part of the Sierra de les Conteses.

Its narrow and zigzagging streets hide corners that deserve to be discovered… Its landscapes preserve the traces of its history and prehistory… And it is right in this cultural and heritage jewel where we find this house built inside the mountain.

It belonged to the painter Paco Puig, who arrived at this town, as many other artists, to be part of an unprecedented artistic and cultural expansion. His house, now in the hand of Diego and Edith, has turned into one of those privileged places where time seems to stop and where we can enjoy every detail and the pleasure of living next to the nature.

An interior design that lets itself be fascinated by the landscape.

The house proudly shows the reddish colour that gives it the rodeno rock, so typical of this area, and which here is highlighted by the whiteness that predominates on the façade.

Thick walls, vaulted ceilings and the rocks of the mountain where it sits, which enter and leave the house at will and grant it a unique charm that adds to this country home decor.

The landscape is in line with it and the interior style respects it with a more rustic aesthetic. Stone and wood take on prominence and the original architecture is recovered.

Rescued and restored doors with centuries of life and much personality, wooden beams that are free again and antique pieces that keep memories. Elements that live with other more current designs in this house that, today, shows off lighter, more comfortable and more alive than ever.

Floor and wall tiles to recreate the best setting.

The chosen tiles for the design and decoration of this house bring patterns, colours and nuances that highlight the rustic style of the house and evoke a symbolism that Francisco Segarra’s collection of floor and wall tiles always gives off.

The Arabian origin of Vilafamés is maybe one of its special charms and that’s why a beautiful reference to it in this country house couldn’t be missing. FS MARRAKECH seeks to recover and maintain that traditional spirit through a stoneware floor tile that captivates us with its drawings and pigments.

The Levantine essence is felt through the FS OLDKER tiles. A floral pattern in whites and blues that have lost intensity but not beauty, and which recover the steps’ riser.

The timelessness of the hydraulic tiles was the chosen option to complete the kitchen’s floor. FS STAR can bring the nostalgia of the past, achieving a wrapping and very creative atmosphere in the heart of this house.

And a country home décor is so symbolic, because it recreates the best setting to disconnect and appreciate the value of small things. A setting that reminds us of the one which inspired so many artists who arrived at this place. A space that Diego has filled with illusion, comfort and magic.
