A light and cosy design in Provencal style is breathed in Tartela

With the illusion of turning a passion into a profession, Tartela was born in 1992. A bakery for professionals from the metropolitan area of Barcelona, experts in the elaboration of traditional desserts in a totally artisanal way, created with professionalism, rigor, and affection.

After 22 years in the professional area; Tartela‘s executive chefs have wanted to bring their creations closer to the public. Taste the desserts of the most exclusive restaurants and catering in your shop attached to the workman or savour them at home is now possible.

To achieve the perfect space, they had the experience of Eva Cheung. The decorator, after ten years working for the best offices of architects and interior designers, is currently immersed in a very personal project. ECM Interior design, her own interior design studio that received a single premise for the pastry design project.

Designing a very light cosy place.

From stone white to cobalt blue, the colour palette would mark the project.

White walls, free of cladding; laminated parquet floors, ideal for withstanding high traffic; traditional ceramics in different formats, Wall & Deco wallpaper, and the warmth of wood, constitute the “container”.

The “content” works according to the service bar as the main element, dressed in tradition and craftsmanship thanks to the geometric patterns of FAENZA A tile belonging to the Francisco Segarra by Peronda tile collection.

The necessary length to house the cold exposure area, take away attention, waiter area and box; coupled with the showiness of ceramics in vivid blue hues and tucked away by a wooden countertop that provides the point of warmth, the piece takes centre stage.

The design and realization of a custom bench, with wall tiles according to the service bar and individual tables for four diners, which allow its use individually or jointly, helps the distribution of room; designed for large groups of people as well as couples or customers who are simply looking to have a quiet breakfast and read the newspaper.

Thanks to the large windows that provide natural light throughout the day, no artificial light intensity was needed, so niches with indirect light were created on the wall as decoration lined with Gaston and Daniela paper. The rest of the lighting of the premises is adjustable in intensity which helps the setting in different time slots.

In the centre of the room a table with capacity for 8 people allows you to enjoy and share the moment.

Taking advantage of the large window that overlooks Parque Miró, a high bar with stools was designed.

To give identity to the project, Eva Cheung toured demolition warehouses, finding some interesting decor and structural elements, such as the wooden gates that have been preserved in the original painting and which currently look like original sliding doors.

Some old drawers of different sizes and materials form a creative sculpture shelving.

The doors of the toilets after replacing the transparent glass with translucent ones and placing some original handles with old spoons that the owner of the place kept, give way to a space with vintage ceramic tiles, model FAENZA B, placed at half height and combined with a paint in water green tone.

The vintage Vela Single wall lamps in the Francisco Segarra lighting catalogue provide the desired spotlight, because not neglecting the equipment and the setting of the bathrooms for public use is also vital in commercial interior design projects.

Tartela breathes a Provencal and cosy air, the only most modern touch is the blue neon of the after bar.
