Local identity through neighbourhood shops.

Now that we are forced to stay at home and have not go out for over 50 days, is when we realize the importance of all those neighbourhood shops. Not only because they offer their services but also because they are part of us, they create community and define the character of our streets and our neighbourhoods.

The easiest way of feeling close to these shops is through social media or in their appearances on different media. The magazine “Proyecto Contract”, specialized in the commercial interior design sector, shows us monthly a selection of commercial businesses the value proposition of which goes beyond the service or goods they offer. A value proposition enhanced by its architecture, design, and decoration.

Commercial interior design: the added value that makes a difference.

We are especially excited to find among the pages of “Proyecto Contract” our interior design projects or in which our furniture, decoration, antiques, or ceramics appear…

In the March issue, we find the Alameda Barbershop, a project in Granada the renovation of which has been commissioned by the interior designer Jesús Torres Chicote. The FS Star hydraulic style flooring does not go unnoticed, the interior designer plays with different textures and materials when covering floors and walls in order to create an industrial and cosy style space.

Renovated but maintaining its essence and its unchangeable character. Jesús Torres has managed to update the image of this business, with more than half a century, preserving its identity. A challenge with a successful result.

When we want to take care of our image, to feel pampered and to let ourselves be advised on style and beauty, we go to this type of shop. They are spaces where we get a service, but they also offer a customer wellness experience and in which interior design takes an important role. Hairdressers and barbershops are two of those shops that we are missing so much and that we want them to reopen as soon as possible.

We dream of returning to normal situation, seeing the lights of the shop windows, the doors opened, and the murmur of people passing through the streets, visiting the shops, and giving life and meaning to the city.
