BASÍLIO, Nicolau’s cousin
His stubbornness and courage cut the Amazon savannahs and paved the way for Brazil’s Holy Grail: coffee. Basílio, a playful and temperamental entrepreneur became one of the great coffee growers of the 19th century and when the coffee cycle grew, Basílio’s independence started and took a risk on his own estate.
He challenged his cousin Nicolau and prospered along with exporting coffee to all European capitals. But nostalgia was beating hard and Basílio returned, he has become a bohemian and “bon vivant” of Lisbon, but always close to his cousin. Café Basílio in Bacalhoeiros reflects Basílio’s mind: cheerful, handsome and where we feel the presence of this coffee baron.

I Love Nicolau is a concept of charming cafés where there is a fresh interior design and a really tasty gastronomy.
Café Basilio is part of this restaurant chain located in the city of Lisbon. Known as the Coffee Baron, Basilio is perhaps the character with the strongest temper of all.
From the facade we can sense its strong and powerful features. And in the background, a beautiful luminous sign highlights its name in a big way and situates us immediately in the place.
Basilio. Among the many plants that adorn the space, we take a seat to enjoy its successful dishes or to finally know the sweet bitter taste of its wonderful coffee. The cheerfully colourful space is conducive to well-being and comfort.
Comfortable seats give added value to the interior design with their marked industrial style. We can feel well when sitting around sturdy and elegant wooden tables.
