A restaurant design that reminisces about its past. La Borda de l’Hereu 1693.

With the passage of time, society evolves, adapting to changes and making its way towards innovation, but there are always places where time seems to have stopped. Spaces that retain a history and a tradition, and that today are reopened to accompany us in our most enriching experiences.

La Borda de l’Hereu 1693 begins a new path with the firm intention of delighting us with familiar flavours, in an architectural witness of the seventeenth century and with a restaurant design that reminisces about its past. A place that unites the rural past of Andorra with the unmistakable feature of our 100%FS projects.

The best shelter of so much tradition…

Located in the parish of Encamp, La Borda de l’Hereu invites us to enjoy traditional Andorran cuisine in a pleasant environment full of history. In 1693, the walls that today surround this special place were built for the first time. A “borda” is a typical hut of the late seventeenth century where cattle were formerly sheltered, and food was stored during the long cold months.

Now, feelings, aromas and flavours are mixed here… A delicate gastronomic proposal that pays homage to part of the Andorra history, without renouncing the most avant-garde culinary techniques.

The will to maintain the essence of the past is also felt in this restaurant design, a space that today becomes our best mountain shelter. Furniture, lighting, decoration… Everything has been selected by Francisco Segarra’s interior design department to make this hut the best shelter of so much tradition, and the best welcome of new stories…

An interior design where harmony and comfort reign.

Built in stone and wood, this “borda” preserves the original gabled roof and the thick rustic walls of that time. A spacious, cosy and familiar space, where materials and textures take centre stage.

In any restaurant, the balance in its interior design is an added value. Here, in this restaurant interior, harmony and comfort reign. Achromatic and neutral colours prevail over any touch of colour.

Wood, leather, natural fibres… The warmth is noticeable through the furniture and also in the way it is arranged in the space. Large, square and round tablesUpholstered, wooden or rattan chairs… Taking care of and polishing every detail of this restaurant project was essential to achieve that hospitable effect we felt when crossing the threshold.

Dim, subtle and serene lighting…

Carrying out the lighting in a building of these characteristics was perhaps one of the most significant points of the entire design project. To keep the atmosphere subdued and so serene that it evokes what it was in the past, subtle and warm lights were chosen.

Pendant lamps are great elements of strength and here they take on a much more decorative role. Through the metal mesh it is possible to sift the light, thus creating an intense visual impact and providing comfort, well-being and a touch of elegance.

The restaurant design is culminated with decorative accessories that embellish and envelop the environment. Dried flowers and hanging plants, and an extremely comfortable feeling that is noticeable in every corner.

La Borda de l’Hereu begins this new path with the purpose of surprising the most demanding palates and also those who love design. A place that preserves the essence of the past and a restaurant willing to welcome new stories.
