Ummo Restaurant. Elegance, style and exceptional designs.

When art and good gastronomy are intertwined in a space, the result can be a sensory experience. For a restaurant, a good interior design is as important as the menu it offers, that’s why the choice of furniture and decoration must be carefully selected.

This is the case of Ummo, a new gastronomic spot that opened its doors last summer in the heart of Chicago. This new proposal imports Italian flavours into a contemporary space with several dining rooms, a small bar and a large social lounge.

For this second SOMOS Hospitality Group restaurant, the style of Francisco Segarra’s furniture was the key to stand out from the competition. A beautiful look back that vintage style always offers and that travels to the American city to be part of this dazzling concept…

A fascinating visual connection between customer and design.

Walking around Chicago is discovering a fascinating city. Its modern architecture, the art that fills its streets and the elegant aura it exudes. This American city has everything to conquer us, and it is in the River North neighbourhood where we find the Ummo restaurant.

Here you can experience an authentic journey through the flavours of Italian cuisine in a stunning space, ingeniously imagined and designed by Karen Herold of Studio K Creative. It presents a visual experience that evokes elegance from the very first moment.

The large dining room on the ground floor features an open kitchen for diners to enjoy. Adjacent to it we find a small, more intimate bar area, the design of which is a nod to the typical galleries of Milan. The art is manifested through specially selected pieces: sculptures, vintage pieces, music festival posters…

The spaces are enveloped in a palette of discreet, natural colours, where sage, cinnamon and brown predominate. The herringbone flooring adds warmth and increases the elegance of the place.

The glass wall in the staircase leading to the loft creates a fascinating visual connection. A retro lounge bar and a cheerful, lively energy are awaiting us there. Art pieces are distributed throughout this large space, leaning against the wall, or placed on shelves hanging from the beams.

The loft has been created for guests to enjoy a full menu, an exquisite wine list and a wide variety of craft cocktails, while enjoying live music and vintage-inspired décor.

Long benches, sofas and armchairs, chairs and stools… a wide variety of seating will accompany us to make our experience at Ummo as comfortable as possible.

Seating: the main protagonists of the space.

It is in the loft where social activity is most lively, so having different types of seating is a chide made on purpose. In addition to a large bench that offers elegance and exclusivity, there are armchairs and sofas that make this place a much more friendly and welcoming space.

In the bar area, the stools take centre stage. On the one hand, the Regi stools were chosen because they recall the best of the retro style. A faithful, original and unique design that catches all eyes.

Another of the models present in this design project is the Mews. A vintage stool capable of enhancing the interior design of this restaurant with its sled leg structure and padded leather seat.

The powerful design of these high stools invites, once again, to let oneself be carried away by Francisco Segarra’s furniture catalogue to create spaces as exceptional as the one in Ummo.
